The last time I drove a Mitsubishi Lancer was back in 2003. I had an OZ Rally Lancer that was a great car. Ask me why I am not driving it today? Well...it wasn't because anything was wrong with it, but that I had growing kids that were growing too fast. I had a stroller in the back, along with back packs and my items alone since I was a working mom. My laptop bag and other things we're making me gear towards a bigger vehicle. However, I certainly started to see the Lancer's evolve to a slightly bigger frame and I was actually missing the Lancer. My kids didn't need a stroller anymore. Let's get real, I would love to save gas on a more compact vehicle now. Test driving cars, this would be one that would absolutely save dollars when it comes to spending on gas for your vehicle
Courtesy of Mitsubishi, I was able to test drive the awesome 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer SEL AWC for a week and the road trip was on our way to our son's college university. There were uphills and curvy roads which took the road like a champ. It did feel a bit looser than my car, but it owned the road. It was triple digit heat and I did worry about the AC not cooling off my kids but the ventilation was strong to circulate the car really nicely. The seating was comfortable considering my son is about 6 feet and him feeling fine was good enough to hear! The key ignition was a turn key and not a push button. The comfort access let's you keep your keys in your pocket or purse and then just open the car door. There was no GPS navigation so I did have to use my phone for Google Maps, but it did have everything else in the media dash like satellite radio, bluetooth, etc.
Some cool features are the AWC and it allows you to select the one you choose in the center console (2WD, 4WD, Lock), The car automatically shifts into eco mode by gauging your drive. The amenities are pretty basic in the areas such as the door arm rest, dash, and center console. A very simple car to drive without all of the guessing. The exterior has definitely changed over the years. The trunk seemed more spacious as well as the interior. The style of the body is more full with the front and back lip. The fog lights and headlights have a nice clean brightness and appeal to the front face and charcoal rims. This is a perfect car if you are seeking one in budget and durable. The model I drove was MSRP $22 - 23K. Overall, a great car. This would be good for those deciding on their first car or those that want to keep things in budget and simple.
